This is a movement; a call to action.
Imagine a world in which every purchase you made went to the betterment of your community, your city, your state, your country or your most cherished cause/charity without the worry of wasteful spending. This is my proposition for a Nonprofit Business Movement to spread throughout the world.
For example, let's say a Nonprofit Company is started called Texas Education Food Products(TEFP). TEFP manufactures, distributes, wholesales & retails ketchup, mustard, salsas, pickles, etc...(any condiment you can think of). Especially given the current state of emergency in education and lack of funds and assuming like quality, would you purchase a Heinz Ketchup Bottle or a TEFP Ketchup Bottle, knowing that 100% of the profits would be going back to Texas Education.(I only use Texas, because I am from there - any state would be applicable, obviously) The business would be run, just like it would in the private sector and just like nonprofits are currently ran(Upper Management with high salaries to attract best applicants, employees getting paid fair salaries/wages, etc...). The decisions on where the money went would be made be elected/appointed board members. There are so many checks & balances in the nonprofit world that corruption would not go unnoticed and unlike current government officials, programs, etc... if corruption is discovered, a boycott of their products is all it would take to solve the problem. The press/media would have a big role in uncovering any corruption, but likewise would be held accountable in courts for any libel/slander, which would make for unbiased reporting - which is pretty much an oxymoron these days.
Likewise, these types of nonprofit businesses would spread across every industry across the nation and hopefully across the globe. Imagine buying your gas from a Nonprofit Oil Company, whose main cause is to clean up the environment or to feed the hungry and their competition is BP. How long would BP stay in business with consumers knowing if you bought from the NonProfit Oil Company, that 100% of the profits were going to a good cause. And not just the oil industry, but the auto industry, the cell phone industry, the fast food/pizza industry, every industry you can imagine.
And this wouldn't just be at the National Level or State Level, also the city and community levels, where the money would go back to your area. Let's say there were Nonprofit "Franchise" opportunities, where Texas Education opened up Pizza Restaurants and your local school district opened a Nonprofit "Franchise" or just opened up a competing Pizza Restaurant; where all the profits would go to your school district in order to better the education for your children, grandchildren, etc... Again, assuming like quality, would you buy pizza from Papa John's or from the Nonprofit Pizza Place?
It's about taking control of the money we spend and having a say where it goes, rather than the money go to corporations and to government, only to have wasteful spending occur and a small percentage of the people actually reap the benefits. But at the same time, it would reward those who had the courage to take the risk to benefit their cause, by having them be the CEO, President, positions in upper management. It's about making the world we live in a better place and leaving it better for future generations - in a world where we have become too wrapped up in material things. It's time for a change!!! And this change will happen, sooner or later, and those that aren't on board with it will be left behind in a heartbeat, because there's no greater marketing than knowing that 100% of the profits of said company is going to a cause you believe in.
So help me make the change today and let's start with Education!!!!!
